Ideal Life Routine
There is my automatic self and my ideal self. The automatic self is easy, but often frustrating, whereas the ideal self is challenging, but empowering.
My automatic self gets defensive when someone I love tells me I messed up. My ideal self understands that conflict is a learning tool and accepts the opportunity to grow. My automatic self procrastinates cleaning up because she would rather sit and watch Youtube videos and eat chocolate. My ideal self knows that if I have a clean home, watching videos and eating chocolate will feel even more satisfying.
It's perfectly normal to ebb + flow between the two. Adulting is a great example this cycle. When we move away from home, our parents will not be able to ensure that we are meeting all of our human needs so we need to step up and learn how to parent ourselves! You won’t always FEEL like going to yoga or cleaning your space, but if you find something that adds value to your life and fulfills a need of yours, it is SO important that you follow that and hold yourself accountable.
This is a poster I made to help myself remember what I'm working toward. I'm far from perfect, but having my goals visible helps me stay on my path toward that ideal self.
